Shattering the Silence

Hear the premiere of “Lux Aeterna”, a newly commissioned work for Gamelan and Choir at the Gala concert at Denton Hall as part of the “Shattering the Silence” Acadia New Music Festival.

GALA concert
Denton Auditorium at Acadia University

This concert is funded in part by Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture and Heritage
The Gala concert includes 3 world premieres of new works composed by Derek Charke, Jérôme Blais and
Peter Togni (all funded by Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture and Heritage). Jerome Blais’s work was
composed for the Acadia Gamelan, directed by Ken Shorley and for mezzo-soprano Paula Rockwell.
PeterTogni’s work was also written for the Acadian Gamelan plus 6 singers including; Paula Rockwell,
Helen Pridmore, Claire Mallin, Ryan Billington and David Piper. Derek Charke’s work was written for
soprano Janice Jackson and electronics.

Lamentatio Jeremiae Prophetae ~ Lamentations of Jeremiah

The Elmer Iseler Singers and conductor Lydia Adam, with Jeff Reilly (bass clarinet) and Rebecca Whelan (soprano) will give a performance of Peter Togni’s Lamentatio Jeremiae Prophetae: Concerto for bass clarinet and choir (2007) in celebration of the launch of the recording on ECM.

St. Anne’s Anglican Church, 270 Gladstone Avenue  – Toronto, Ontario

Lamentatio Jeremiae Prophetae

The Elmer Iseler Singers and conductor Lydia Adam, with Jeff Reilly (bass clarinet) and Rebecca Whelan (soprano) will give a performance of Peter-Anthony Togni’s Lamentatio Jeremiae Prophetae: Concerto for bass clarinet and choir (2007) in celebration of the launch of the recording on ECM.  Peter-Anthony has the distinction of being the first Canadian classical composer to be recorded by ECM.

3:00 p.m.  at St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Toronto.

The new CD will be available at the November 14 concert, and will become available at Canadian retailers in January 2010.
