Canadian composer Peter Togni simultaneously refracts\, magnifies\, challenges and refutes the austere voices of the Medieval masterpiece. Juxtaposing choral material\, entirely written out\, and the improvised interruptions of a bass clarinet\, Togni assigns the role of time traveller to the clarinet\, bringing Machaut’s fourteenth century into the heart of the twenty-first. \n
