DESCRIPTION:Join us for Day’s Last Glow\, a concert with the Blackwood Trio\, featuring artists Peter-Anthony Togni (organ/piano)\, Jeff Reilly (bass clarinet)\, and India Gailey (cello). “Day’s Last Glow” is a haunting and atmospheric mix of new and old\, composed and improvised on a unique foundation of jazz\, gregorian chant\, and minimalism\, defying stylistic boundaries with virtuosity\, musicality and sensitivity. Admission is by free-will donation (suggested amount\, $20). \nBlackwood’s unique\, dark and lyrical sound has the precision and clarity found in any classical ensemble\, but also taps into the expressive freedom found in the improvisational gestures of contemporary jazz. Bass clarinetist Jeff Reilly and pianist/organist Peter-Anthony Togni and JUNO-nominated cellist India Gailey explore plainchant\, European jazz and contemporary classical techniques\, developing a deep musical connection to create music that critics have called “sonically haunting”.
